Senate Department for the Interior and Sport Berlin , , Berlin State Commission against Violence
In 2015, the Berlin State Commission against Violence developed the Berlin State Programme for the Prevention of Radicalisation. The resolution of the State Secretary Committee of the State Commission was passed on 1 September 2015, the Senate resolution on 22 December 2015.
The various senate departments and experts from the fields of science and practice are involved in a continuous process of further development of the state programme.
How does the state programme work?
The central component is a comprehensive support programme. Initiatives, projects and measures to prevent radicalisation with different focal points are supported throughout Berlin.
In addition, the state programme contributes to the bundling and increased coordination of measures. It thus pursues a cross-institutional and interdepartmental approach.
The prevention and deradicalisation projects of the civil society state programme are aimed at various target groups in order to counteract Islamist radicalisation. Projects are carried out which, depending on the funding priority, offer information and education formats on the topic of Islamism/Islamist radicalisation and/or advise affected persons, relatives and other people seeking advice:
• Workshops at schools and child and youth welfare institutions
• Educational events for girls and young women
• Online projects for prevention in social media
• Services for young refugees
• Training and further training of multipliers
• Projects in the field of prevention and deradicalisation (for example the Berlin PREVENT advice centre).
