Federal Agency for Civic Education (bpb) ,
The Federal Agency for Civic Education (bpb) supports all interested citizens in dealing with politics. The focus of the bpb's work is to promote an awareness of democracy and political participation.
With events, print products, audiovisual and online products, it takes up current and historical topics. The bpb's broad range of educational offerings is designed to motivate and enable citizens to critically examine political and social issues and to actively participate in political life. Experiences with dictatorial forms of rule in German history give rise to a special responsibility for the Federal Republic of Germany to anchor values such as democracy, pluralism and tolerance in the consciousness of the population.
One of the core tasks of the bpb is to counter extremism and to prevent it with the means of political education. The bpb is dedicated to a holistic approach to all forms of extremism and group-focused enmity. In this context, the fight against radicalisation and Islamist extremism is also of great importance. For this purpose, the bpb offers a wide range of services, including conferences, training courses, print products (anthologies and monographs – both its own and licensed publications), educational materials, online services such as a dossier and various web video formats, and access to films on the subject via the bpb media library. The bpb also operates a website and a regular newsletter, the "Infodienst Radikalisierungsprävention" (Radicalisation Information Service), both of which deal with the prevention of radicalisation and extremism in the field of Islamism.
