Ministry for Family, Women, Youth, Integration and Consumer Protection of Rhineland-Palatinate , , State Coordination Office for the Prevention of Violence and Extremism of Rhineland-Palatinate

The State Coordination Office (Department for "Promotion of Democracy, Prevention of Violence and Extremism" in the Ministry for Family, Women, Youth, Integration and Consumer Protection of Rhineland-Palatinate) coordinates prevention and intervention measures against anti-democratic and violent extremism outside the sphere of the security authorities.

Its tasks include in particular:
• Promotion of the understanding of democracy among children and young persons
• Coordination and promotion of activities against racism and group-focused enmity
• Raising public awareness of the issues of Islamophobia and religiously motivated extremism (e.g. with the prevention network DivAN – Diversity-oriented work in the network)
• Coordination and promotion of measures against religious extremism
• Support for the Salam advice centre against Islamist radicalisation
• Coordination and promotion of measures against political extremism
• Maintenance of the database www.gewaltpraevention.rlp.de with Rhineland-Palatinate projects and measures to prevent violence
• Initiation and promotion of further training offers for multipliers and information for the population in the above-mentioned areas
• federal state-wiede networking of institutions, authorities and bodies such as Muslim associations, which ensure the flow of information with nationwide connections

To implement these measures, the State Coordination Office works closely with the security authorities in the Steering Committee against Islamist Radicalisation.

It also coordinates the inter-ministerial working group "Coordination: Violence Prevention".

It is also responsible for the development of the federal state action plan against racism and group-focused enmity.

Since May 2016, the Salam Advice Centre against Islamist Radicalisation has been active in prevention work, in counselling people who have become radicalised or are at risk of radicalisation. On request, it advises relatives and persons from the social environment of persons at risk of radicalisation.

It is also active in information, awareness-raising and training work on the issue of religiously motivated radicalisation.
